The college is proud to be able to offer a fully comprehensive sixth form curriculum which is designed to allow students to pursue their preferred areas of study to both AS and A2 level. This provision, which was launched in 2010, has already seen a number of ex-college students enter universities in the U.K., Europe, Turkey and Cyprus. The number of students electing to follow our post 16 academic courses is steadily increasing.
A-Level Courses Available:
Maths (C12-C34 Statistics I-II, Mechanics I-II)
Art and Design
We recommend that sixth form students take a maximum of 4 subjects of their choice after consultation with the subject teacher.
Year 12/13 students will typically be allotted 6 classroom periods for each of their AS level courses (excluding a flexible number of periods of Directed Study) plus 2/3 periods for a sporting activity. They also have two “research/study periods” each week to enable them to talk to their personal subject tutors on a one-to-one basis or simply carry out extra research as and when necessary. Normally, they will be required to remain on campus for the whole of each day between 8.30 am and 4.00 pm.
Advanced level studies require a high level of commitment from students and, accordingly, we feel that they should be fully engaged at all times throughout both Year 12 and Year 13.
